Environmental Impact Report

Dyer Mountain Associates (DMA) completed a two year exhaustive review of potential impacts the project might have on the environment and surrounding areas.   The findings of this review are now available in the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR).  The report identifies potential issues and proposes remedies.  DMA is very pleased that the proposed remedies are all within DMA’s ability to implement.  In fact, through this process, DMA’s commitment to the environment is stronger and more steadfast than ever.  abspharm.com

The process

The general public has until May 27, 2005 to study the findings and submit written comment to the county.  A public hearing will be held on May 4, 2005 to consider the findings and hear testimony from the general public.  After the May 27 deadline, the county will evaluate submitted comments and consider all testimony.  If there are no other significant environmental impacts to consider, the project will be sent to the Lassen County Planning Commission for final approval.

Key findings include

  • Dyer Mountain will have a positive impact on job creation in the region.  When the resort is completed, an estimated 600 permanent jobs and 1,200 seasonal jobs will be created.
  • Dyer Mountain should provide a nice boost to the local economy
    • Dyer Mountain will become the largest private sector employer in the county resulting in thousands of dollars into the local economy as monthly payroll
    • Dyer Mountain will provide a huge increase in the local tax base, benefiting schools, and other tax funded entities.
